Industrial Welding in Louisiana
Louisiana is in the middle of a multi-billion-dollar data-center and cold-storage build-out. When mechanical contractors need a field welding crew that travels, we run the pipe, skids, and supports that keep these jobs moving.
In short
Sons of Thunder Welding is a traveling specialty welding and fabrication crew that takes on data-center and cold-storage mechanical scope across Louisiana.
Louisiana has become one of the hottest data-center markets in the country. Meta is building its Hyperion AI campus in Richland Parish, a four-million-square-foot site that started construction in December 2024 and has already supported thousands of construction workers and hundreds of millions in contracts with Louisiana businesses. Amazon committed roughly twelve billion dollars to new campuses in the Shreveport area across Caddo and Bossier parishes, Hut 8 is developing its River Bend AI campus in West Feliciana Parish in the Capital Region, and Applied Digital is putting up an AI factory campus in Rapides Parish near Alexandria. State economic-development figures put total announced data-center investment in the tens of billions. At the same time the Gulf food economy keeps growing the cold chain: Agile Cold Storage opened a roughly forty-six-million-dollar automated, multi-temperature facility in Pearl River, and Lineage has expanded its refrigerated and blast-freezing operations at the Port of New Orleans to well over 460,000 square feet. Both of these buildouts run on mechanical piping. Modern AI data centers like Hyperion use direct liquid cooling and closed-loop chilled-water systems at very high rack densities, which means miles of cooling piping, glycol loops, pump skids, supports, hangers, and structural steel. Cold-storage and food-processing plants run on cooling and process piping and sanitary food-grade stainless. That is exactly the work we travel for. We are based in Northwest Indiana and Southwest Florida, and we deploy as a self-contained field welding crew or as overflow for a mechanical contractor who is short-handed on a tight schedule. We are not chasing everyday local welding work in Louisiana, and we will tell you straight what scope we can take on.

What these builds need
The mechanical scope we run
Builds like Louisiana's data-center campuses and cold-storage plants typically require the kind of mechanical and welding scope we run as a traveling crew or mechanical-contractor overflow crew:
- Data center process piping and cooling piping welding — chilled-water and glycol loop piping, closed-loop liquid cooling lines, and mission-critical mechanical piping tied into pump skids
- Cooling and process piping for cold storage and food-grade plants, plus supports and skids for industrial refrigeration systems
- Sanitary stainless welding and food-grade stainless process piping fabrication and install for seafood, protein, and food-processing facilities
- Pipe spool fabrication in the shop, then field welding and install on site to keep mechanical schedules on track
- Supports, hangers, and skids plus structural steel to carry piping, pumps, and equipment
- Shutdown and turnaround welding and plant maintenance welding when a facility needs an experienced crew fast

Louisiana — FAQ
Do you have a crew on the Meta, Amazon, or Hut 8 data center projects in Louisiana?
No. We have no contract, bid, or role on any named project or site in Louisiana. We mention these projects because they show the scale of mechanical and piping work happening in the state. We come in when a mechanical contractor needs a traveling field welding crew or overflow help on this type of data-center or cold-storage work.
What kind of Louisiana work do you actually target?
Data-center cooling piping and cold-storage / refrigeration / food-grade mechanical work. Think chilled-water and glycol loops, closed-loop liquid cooling piping, cooling and process piping, sanitary food-grade stainless, pipe spool fabrication, and supports, hangers, and skids. We are a traveling specialty crew, not a local shop chasing everyday welding.
You are based out of state — can you really cover Louisiana metros?
Yes. We are a traveling crew based in Northwest Indiana and Southwest Florida, and we mobilize to job sites. We mobilize to Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Lafayette, and the Northeast Louisiana corridor around Richland Parish, either as a self-contained crew or as overflow for a mechanical contractor on a tight schedule.
What are your welders certified to do?
Our welders are AWS-certified, and our people are OSHA 10 and 30 trained. The company is insured and bonded. We will scope your job honestly and tell you straight what we can take on. We do not cut corners — Built to Serve, Welded to Last.
